While I typically cannot wait for the end of the month, this month I wanted time to slow down. I had a week’s vacation last week, and I did not want my time at home to end. Although I enjoy traveling, there’s definitely something to be said about staying home and enjoying some rest and relaxation. My staycation allowed me to drink leisurely cups of coffee in the morning, read, and, of course, pick up a few treats for myself along the way! This month the best things ever are:
Lele Sadoughi Headbands
I have always loved headbands because they are an easy way to make my hair look more interesting. I have very straight hair and continually battle “hair envy,” especially when scrolling through Instagram. Who has the time or the talent to curl her hair every day? Apparently every influencer. Sigh. When I try to wield a curling iron, I end up with bent hair and burned fingers.
Headbands, therefore, are a perfect way to make my hair look special without sustaining injuries or reaching extreme levels of frustration. My new favorite headbands are from designer Lele Sadoughi. I first discovered her headbands when I saw Daphne Oz wearing one, and I immediately started stalking the company’s Instagram.
After weeks of coveting, I finally broke down and bought a headband for myself. I ordered the black and white striped woven headband. The headband comes in the most perfect black and white striped pouch, and enclosed is a card proclaiming: “Welcome to the colorful, maximal, and unabashedly feminine world of Lele Sadoughi.”
Colorful. Maximal. Unabasheldy Feminine.
SWOON!
Lele, how did you know these words speak to my very essence?
I ordered one headband to start because I wanted to make sure they were comfortable for all-day wear. There is nothing worse than the pain of a headband headache. Fortunately, they are very comfortable. Unfortunately, this means I will need to buy about ten more.
My other favorite styles are:
St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah
Savannah actually hosts one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the United States. I don’t always go to the parade, but this year we decided to make a day of it and head downtown for the celebration. My parents live near the parade route, so we had a comfortable homebase (and a bathroom- something that’s key on parade day).
We spent the morning wandering the parade route, stopping periodically to watch the parade and refill our drinks. St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah is certainly an experience and one of the biggest parties of the year.
I was most excited this year to wear my new St. Patrick’s Day outfit. My friend Xuan made me a custom shirt for the occasion, which I paired with another cute headband.
Naked Reloaded Palette
I typically keep my makeup pretty simple, but when I wear eyeshadow, I always use Urban Decay palettes. The newest palette, Naked Reloaded, features 12 shades that are easily mixed and matched. As I’m not an expert at applying makeup, I appreciate the pre-matched shades because it’s nearly impossible to make a mistake.
A Special Lunch
It’s no secret that I love to shop. I don’t just love buying something special for myself, but I also enjoy planning special shopping outings. My mom and I typically shop together, and, over the years, have made our shopping trips into special occasions. Our favorite department store is Nordstrom, but the closest store to Savannah is in Jacksonville, Florida. When the store opened, we started traveling there a few times a year. Coincidentally, The Capital Grille, one of our favorite restaurants, is located steps from the store.
As a result, whenever we head to Jacksonville for a shopping trip, we also visit The Capital Grille and treat ourselves to our favorite cocktail: The Stoli Doli. The Stoli Doli is pineapple infused vodka shaken tableside (in the cutest single-serving cocktail shaker, by the way). Years ago we tried to infuse our own vodka at home, but it was pretty much a disaster. It’s much easier to just head to The Capital Grille and let the experts there serve up the perfect pineapple cocktail.
Another month has flown by, and an eventful April awaits. We have two trips scheduled in April (NYC and Orlando), our annual family Easter celebration, and a few other fun events sprinkled in.
