Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love love, the color pink, and, most of all, I love hearts. After surveying my closet, I discovered many blouses, dresses, and accessories covered in hearts. While not all Valentine’s Day looks have to include hearts, it’s certainly alright with me if they do. I believe in making ordinary days celebratory, so I decided to curate a number of special looks for the week of Valentine’s Day.
Look 1
I bought these fun pants at Red Clover, one of my favorite local boutiques, but struggled to find a top to wear with them. On a whim, however, I paired them with a Valentine’s-inspired heart blouse. The polka dots on the pants and the hearts on the blouse were perfect together. I love pairing patterns, and I can’t get enough of this combination.
The Details:
- Top: LOFT Heart Ruffle Henley Shell
- Pants: Skies are Blue (purchased at Red Clover)
- Shoes: Marc Fisher LTD Zala Pump
- Sunglasses: Kate Spade
Look 2
On a cold morning a few weeks ago, I styled this fun outfit. One of my students deemed it “adorable,” and I have to agree. My favorite part of the outfit, however, are my Chanel heart pins. My mom brought them for me from Las Vegas when she took a trip there in 2004, and I’ve managed to hold onto them every since.
The Details:
- Top: Gianni Bini
- Sweater: J. Crew
- Skirt: BCBG
- Shoes: Crown and Ivy
- Pins: Chanel Heart Pins (vintage)
Look 3
This classic look is one of my favorites. The pink skirt has beautiful gold buttons that open to fully-functional pockets. I live for skirts and dresses with pockets because they make my job easier, but I do not like to sacrifice style for functionality. I paired the skirt with a simple black tee for a warm Valentine’s Day or a dramatic black sweater for a colder day.
The Details:
- Sweater: Erin Sweater ASTR The Label (Purchased at Harper)
- Skirt: LOFT Button Pocket Shift Skirt
- Booties: Michael Kors
- Bag: Kate Spade
Look 4
After seeing these pants on LOFT’s Instagram (thanks to Glitter & Juls’ takeover), I had to have them. The red is not only perfect for Valentine’s Day, but the pants are comfortable and show-stopping. I love colorful clothes that make a statement, and these pants certainly fit the bill.
The Details:
- Blouse: LOFT Ruffle Henley Shell
- Pants: LOFT Slim Tie Waist Pull on Pants
- Shoes: Marc Fisher LTD Zala Pump
- Bag: Satchel (Savannah boutique that makes one-of-a-kind bags)
Look 5
Casual Friday: Valentine’s edition! I, once again, paired hearts and polka dots for this fun look. I have been obsessed with Tory Burch flats since 2007, and this polka dotted pair is one of my favorites. The top is work-appropriate, but the heart details add some fun to a classic look.

Curating Your Own Special Looks
Creating a look (or a week of looks) for a special occasion is the perfect way to add a little something more to your daily routine. Many of the items I shared today are still available in stores. The items that are no longer available are basics that can easily be found at many shops. I hope that my looks provided inspiration for your Valentine’s date, Galentine’s party, or simply for something different to wear to work.
Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!
Note: Special thanks and kisses to my love, Sal, for taking these photos. He is actually much more patient than I am about it, and I appreciate him for that! Also, thank you to my best friend Christina for encouraging me to do a week of looks. Of course, she recommended it months ago!
